We know from previous STAG surveys that Gypsy & Traveller sites in Southwark are overcrowded and lots of people are living in bricks & mortar accommodation or on sites outside the borough, when they need a pitch in Southwark, close to their family and friends.

The Mayor of London is leading a new survey to understand the accommodation needs of Gypsy, Traveller, Showpeople and Roma people across London. It’s really important as many Gypsies, Roma, Showpeople and Travellers with a connection to London complete the survey to show the true need for different types of homes for our communities in the next 10 years. If we can prove there’s a need, new sites, stopping places and better homes can be provided for the generations to come.

The survey is being done by an independent organisation, called RRR Consultancy, who will ensure that all responses are confidential.

The researchers will be visiting sites, yards and stopping places across London to do face to face interviews until December.

STAG is going to be supporting as many Gypsies, Roma, Showpeople and Travellers as possible in Southwark, and beyond, to complete the survey. If you live on a site, we will be arranging visits over the next couple of months. And if you live in bricks and mortar, we know not everyone’s happy with online surveys, so let us know and we can help you go through it either on the telephone or in person.
